Do you frequently work in confined areas, close to objects, or against a wall? On models with minimal and conventional tail swing, the rear of the house protrudes beyond the width of the tracks. To avoid this restriction and give yourself the greatest flexibility, choose a zero tail-swing model; the rear of the house stays within the width of the tracks through full rotation. With zero tail swing, you rotate and deposit soil where you need it, reposition the machine fewer times, and worry less about accidentally striking any surrounding objects.
Keys can be lost or forgotten, especially when a machine has several operators. With the optional keyless start on Bobcat® compact excavators, you don't need keys any more. This simple option ensures that no time is lost on your worksite if you or your employees forget the keys in the shop. To start your machine, simply enter a set code number and press the start button. Keyless start also protects against theft and unauthorised use. The code can easily be changed using the master code supplied with the kit. It’s particularly useful for rental machines, as the code can be changed for each customer.
Avoid fuel spills and wastage with the Bobcat Fuel Fill Alert! An audible alarm beeps faster as the fuel level approaches tank capacity, taking the guesswork out of refueling. Certain compact excavator models are equipped with a fuel-fill pump with automatic shutdown.
For more accurate placement of your load, the integrated slew brakes hold the machine steady on slopes. This makes it easier to load the machine, and you no longer need to manually engage the slew brakes during transport.
The optional steel tracks have a segmented construction, enabling quick and convenient repair. Optional rubber pads ensure a more comfortable ride.

The design decisions that determine where the machine can work and what you can hang on it.
An extension of zero tail swing: the front corners of the upper structure are brought inside the swing circle too, and the boom swing cylinder does not protrude when digging parallel to a wall. In practice the machine works right up against obstacles — in backyards, in urban areas and anywhere a bigger machine simply will not fit.
The blade follows the ground automatically, making levelling quicker and easier. The travel motor returns to high speed by itself after downshifting under load, so turns and dozing stay smooth without manual shifting.
